About Matt

My journey through the martial arts world began at the tender age of 5, when I was inspired to take my first Tang Soo Do class after getting my book bag stolen by a bully in kindergarten – the genesis of my love for fighting. Ever since that day, I have been hooked on combat sports – especially mixed martial arts – as I pursue a career as both an aspiring fighter and journalist.

In 2011, I became a UFC/MMA Featured Columnist for Bleacher Report and have had the opportunity to interview and cover many of the sport’s top athletes and industry leaders including; UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, former UFC Lightweight champ Frankie Edgar, undefeated XFC Lightweight Nick Newell, WWE/MMA star Dave Bautista, Bellator ring girls Mercedes and Jade and many more.

My work has also been featured on FoxSports.com and MixedMartialArts.com.

I am also the Area Director for Knuxx of New England where I cover and break down local MMA news.

Outside of the MMA world, I am also a writer for the men’s lifestyle site TSBMag.com, where I get to write about everything from physical fitness to dating advice. I’ve also edited a few Amazon Kindle books for the guys over at TSB, check them out here.

Currently, I’m based in Boston where I am working on a degree in journalism at Northeastern University.

When I’m not busy writing, you can usually find me training in MMA, whether I am home, training with Team Renzo Gracie, in Connecicut or at school in Boston. I am a third degree black belt in Tang Soo Do under Grandmaster Charles Ferraro and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Keith Florian and I hope to get in the cage soon!
