UFC 154: Welterweight King Georges St-Pierre Returns to Face Interim Champ Carlos Condit
MMA fans are in for a treat this weekend as UFC Welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre finally makes his return to the Octagon at UFC 154 in Montreal this Saturday.
The welterweight king has been sidelined since late 2011 after suffering a torn ACL in training. Finally back in fighting shape, St-Pierre will look to unify the 170 lb. title as he faces interim champ Carlos Condit later this weekend.
Condit’s a dangerous opponent and showed some impressive footwork in his UFC 143 match-up against former Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz, but I think that “Rush” will be able to handle whatever “the Natural Born Killer” throws at him.
Also on the card will be a huge welterweight battle to determine the division’s next top contender. Danish striker Martin Kampmann will take on Johny Hendricks and his epic beard for the next shot at the title in what may very well be fight of the night.

Bellator 81 Comes to Rhode Island
As if New England fans didn’t have enough events on their hands this weekend, Bellator’s lightweight tournament semi-finals come to a close tonight as Bellator 81 comes to the Twin River Casino in Kingston, Rhode Island.
In the main event, veteran 155er Rich Clementi will clash with Polish fighter Marcin Held for a spot in the lightweight finals opposite the winner of the Dave Jansen vs. Ricardo Tirloni co-main event.
The main card also features featherweight vet Marlon Sandro, so this is a pretty good show coming to Rhode Island.
Check out all the fights live on Spike.com starting at 6pm EST with the main card being televised on MTV2.
NEF, Premier FC Titles Up For Grabs
New England Fights! (NEF) will be having its final show of the year as Fight Night V comes to Lewiston, Maine Saturday afternoon.
The NEF bantamweight title will be up for grabs as Paul Gorman of the Academy takes on Adam Toussaint of Team Havoc in the main event. This card is filled with a ton of talented Mainers who you can check out in this awesome fight card break down by WesternMassMMA.com.
Some more local titles will be on the line this weekend as Premier FC 12 comes to Albany, New York.
Four amateur championship bouts are set for Saturday’s fights lead by a main event battle between Marvin Maldonado of Bruno Tostes and Angel Laboy for the Premier FC 125 lb. title.
I’m really excited to see submissions specialist Nestor Xicohtemcahl of Team Renzo Gracie CT fight for the featherweight strap against Lion’s Den’s Ian Mcewan. I used to train with “Nestor X” in Connecticut and can’t wait to see him battle it out for the belt.
Check out the full fight card here and make sure to check back on Monday for the full weekend wrap-up!
