Former WWE star Dave Bautista may have received the bulk of the attention following his successful mixed martial arts debut, but a number of seasoned UFC veterans also came away with big wins at Saturday’s CES MMA “Real Pain.”

Your’s truly was reporting live from Providence, RI as one-time UFC middleweight title challenger David “The Crow” Loiseau and former UFC welterweight John “Doomsday” Howard both took home brutal, technical knockout victories on the pay-per-view televised portion of the card.

Loiseau, returning from an injury-ridden 20 months away from the cage, started off slow against South Carolina’s Chris McNally and was nearly caught in a guillotine choke early in the first round.  “The Crow” battled back, however, finishing his foe later in the round with vicious elbows from top guard.

The strikes cut open up such a huge gash on McNally’s forehead that it caused blood to splatter all over the canvas.

“For personal reasons, I stopped throwing elbows for years,” Loiseau said in his post-fight, in cage inteview, “but the people asked for elbows, so I brought the peoples’ elbows back.”

In the post-fight press conference, Loiseau expressed his gratitude towards Bautista for allowing him to fight at the event, to which the former WWE star replied, “Which means I begged for him to be on this card.”

In other main card action, Boston’s own “Doomsday” Howard decimated Brett Chism’s left eye with brutal hammerfists to take home the second round finish.

The Wai Kru product knew he had hurt Chism with a left hook that caused his eye to swell a bit in round one.  Once “Doomsday” smelt blood in the second frame, it was all over.

“I clipped him in the eye and I was shocked that it swelled up,” Howard told me after the win.  “Since it swelled up, I was thinking, let me wait until later in the fight to really abuse that because he was thinking that I was gunna throw the right—but I didn’t throw it.  When he got a little lazy with it, I attacked it.”
